Flies great, though i wish i had waited for a headless unit (like they have now). The camera stopped working pretty quickly – it appears to be the connector where the camera plugs into the circuit board.
Very durable for as light as it is. I would suggest an extra battery or two. Flight time per charge is about 7 minutes. Good one to learn with before shucking out some major money.
It worked right out of the box with no problems, was easy to learn how to use and met all of my expectations.
While still just trying the quadcopter, as a novice, it appears to work well. I can get it moving on short flights, mostly under control. The (obviously) translated directions are entertaining and directionally helpful, but the quadcopter and controller are easy to use, so no problem. The parcel was delivered very quickly, complete and everything works as expectedonly thing so far, is the copter is very light, so even small wind gusts effect flight patterns,. As a newby, could also be the pilot.
I have a black just one of these and this white one. I seriously like the black 1 due to the fact it functions truly good, but the white 1 does not fly as superior. It goes substantial for a little bit but then stays close to the floor. The black a single fly better for a significantly longer time.
Super enjoyable, super stable to fly. The only bad matter i can say about it is the camera give up operating following i crashed quite challenging various moments but i blame that on my inexperience flying quads. But prior to it stopped performing the camera worked seriously properly, it was not hd but it was excellent more than enough for me. Even without the camera it is so a lot exciting to fly.
This is a great entry amount quad. I like it for what it is, fairly effortless to take care of, first rate cam. Does come with 2 batteries as mentioned and 4 replaceable propellers. I was ready to fly mine quite perfectly just after about 15 min. Of messing about/screening first. My vid also have the flight cam proven and a few of pictures from the flight cam: https://www. Com/view?v=wqymlnawxrsshipping was very fast, like fewer than 5 times. Also one a lot more matter, the instruction did say cost right until the light-weight turns eco-friendly but in reality the light is off when you to start with start out charging and then it turns ‘red’ when charging is complete. Don’t inquire me why but this is as non-intuitive as it receives.
The translated guidelines aren’t the greatest, but do provide some comedy. Fantastic issue the quadcopter is simple to determine out. As pointed out in at minimum a person other evaluate, the charger mild will screen red when the batteries are billed and off when charging. I’m not positive how significant this will go simply because my property is comprehensive of mature trees, but i made a couple of movies above the roof of our home nearly amount with the trees pretty simply. We’ll choose it to the neighbourhood park and engage in additional soon after i get additional comfortable flying it. In general it really is pretty exciting, will come completely assembled with nearly all the things you need: quadcopter, remote, batteries for the copter, 2gb micro sd card, usb cable, bag of spare parts, screw driver and a wall charger. You will have to provide some patience, 4 ‘aa’ batteries and a bit of place to understand to fly. Any one with respectable hand eye coordination can fly this right after about 5 to 15 minutes of taking part in and adjusting.
Not QUITE 5 Stars, but better than 4!
This is a good entry level quad
A great little beginner quadcopter.

The last one took longer to geteverything than it lasted. The p c board fried, and i never heard back from the mfg. Thaks a few tries before i got it right.
Camera stopped working within a week or so, even though i was testing this device indoors on a carpeted floor.
Although my first one had a problem with the rotor, it was quickly replaced and we’ve enjoyed it alot throughout the family.
Our boys (8 and 9 yr) are enjoying flying it. It’s super easy to fly (even for beginners).
When i very first obtained this quad the steadiness was lacking. Much more akin to a flying guillotine. Even making use of the trim adjustments on the distant didnt do the job to aid stabilize it. Hunting the net gave tons of facts and i honed on altering the gyro in the quad. I even bought a dial amount angle finder, practically nothing labored. As 1 very last endeavor i bought a electronic angle finder at harbor freight whilst on sale. Utilizing the electronic angle finder the surface to calibrate the gyro was at one. Applying a piece of glass and strips of paper i was able to get it to. 5 levels and recalibrated the gyro.
Flight time is very limited, and it is not uncomplicated to control.
Decent introduction to the environment of quadcopters/drones. Removing a person star for the reason that the charger was faulty, the red light would not come on, under no circumstances turns inexperienced and appears to be faulty.
seven calendar year aged flies it with ease.
It arrived quickly and in great shape. It is a toy, so we did not expect alot from it. We have been having a problem with the trim. Also, do not add decals or paint because any little extra weight will keep it on the ground. My husband finally removed the cage around the propellers so it lifts good but still will not hover.
The unit itself is great for a first, no issues with the device. Just frustrated that it seems like the company sent me a used unit and it was not advertised that way. The box was not sealed, nothing inside was in plastic. The guard had two small scratches on it and one of the rotor blades has a small nick out of it as if it was spinning and hit something. When i removed the sd card, there was data on it already from 2008 and 2009 with pictures and a couple of videos. Luckily nothing private, but almost confirms my suspicions of this being used merchandise. Also the power charger box was almost crushed and had no seal on it, making it look like it was opened, and opened roughly. Other than the disappointment of not receiving a new, out of the box unit, i chose to keep it rather than go through the hassle of a return. I am quite pleased with the operation of the toy, it is a hoot and i am glad i purchased it.
My 9 year old son got this for christmas and he loves it. It was very easy for him to learn the controls. He has it flying high and doing flips. We haven’t messed with the camera part of it because he doesn’t really need that. Just wish the battery lasted longer.
Reasons for 5 stars is after mods. This quadcoptor out of the box is not very good. Slow hard to move cant flip right. But once u take the outer shell that protects everything its a whole different toy its fast amazing and everything works great. Camera sucks took it off for lighter weight i get about 7 minutes to 10 of flight time with all the mods iv done, which does include unplugging some lights.
So considerably so very good, although only flew them a single time so far. We purchased three and all 3 performed perfectly.
I think it is terrific for the maximum degree of study course flying.
Pros: excellent price, extra parts and battery included, very light, highly useful lights help with flying, wired in camera that’s controlled via the remote, plenty of power and very agile for indoor flight, blade guards are a huge safety pluscons: short run time (6-9 minutes depending on how hard you run it), unsuitable for outside flight with the plastic ‘shell’ guard on (see below), low quality camera, slow battery charge time, lacks the power to fly outside with anything more than a light breeze. Intro:after much research and hand wringing, i settled on this quadcopter because, for the price, it was an unbeatable deal with the camera, usd card, two batteries and spare parts kit included. Now that i’ve had some good flight time and know even more about quads, i’d have to say that i feel that the udi 818a is an ideal choice for entry quad pilots out there. One of it’s biggest advantages is it’s size, having tried to break myself in on a micro quad half the size of the 818a, i can safely say that the smaller units are far less stable in anything but completely ideal environments. Durability: a solid 5 starsfirst off, as a complete beginner, i crashed this quad, a lot. Walls, floors, ceiling fixtures, driveways, trees, windows, sidewalks, even my face and it’s shrugged every single one off with only some scuffing on the plastics. While it’s ‘best’ to pull the throttle to zero just before a crash occurs, beginners might not do that and despite suffering several full throttle collisions, it’s none the worse for wear and the carbon fiber booms on the motors certainly help make it very sturdy. I have absolutely zero complaints about the durability of this quadcopter. Ease of use: 4 starswhile the 818a itself is exceedingly easy to use, just slide in the battery, insert the usd card and plug it in, the remote warrants at least one star being stripped off. Not great, my hands aren’t small, but this thing is huge. Probably the single largest complaint about the remote is that is does not remember the trim settings between power cycles.
At very first i only gave it a 3, however i have realized some items that assist this little male out. Eliminating the outer shell/blade guard would seem to have made a huge big difference in responsiveness, movement and run time. . After you get employed to the movement and you should not crash it each 10 seconds, i endorse eradicating and trimming the shell. It climbs significantly more quickly and the blades are uncovered. )to remove the shell: it is not held on with any screws. The plastic body just flexes all-around the arms to maintain it there. There is 1 led on the shell and it is quickly unplugged as soon as the shell is off. Immediately after taking away the shell i have discovered i can save it from falls and it won’t wobble and fall out of the sky. It wobbled and fell out of the sky a large amount with the shell on it. Some folks also make their very own shells or trim the blade guards off the present a person. Meticulously unplug all the leds from the circuit board and safe them with a zip tie. I wrapped them all over the circuit board.
Only use indoors or if there is zero wind outside. Could not command it below even the lightest of winds exterior. Nevertheless entertaining to fly in massive indoor spots.
Likely to acquire a much better drone when have income.
Bought this for my son for christmas. Comes with 2 batteries and extra props and has a video and still camera that is very good quality for what it is. Better than several others in it’s class. Lacks a bit of power for outdoors unless there is no wind, but it’s still fun. My son took it up about 75 feet with very little practice and took some great video of the neighborhood. Highly recommend for beginners.
If you want to get in to drones this is the prefect starter easy to use and fun to fly. Just be aware of cross winds because it will get blown away easily.
Lots of fun, and easy to fly. Definitely a good choice for a beginner like me. Not without it’s issues, however:the batteries fade after just a few minutes and barely provide enough power to keep the craft aloft. When they cool down, the batteries are good for another few minutes. The craft has some stability issues on rapid descent and comes down, like a leaf, swaying side to side. This quad is a little too large for indoor and a little light for outdoors. Flying on a calm day is great, flying on a windy day is impossible. All that said, i love the u818 and i am glad i bought it.
I was very excited to finally get this in the mail. I charged the batteries and went for a test flight. I was able to keep it at a hover and do a few good turns right out of the box, and having never touched a quadcopter in my life, i was impressed. But i tried the flips and the whole copter made a nose dive into the ground after the flip was made. But whatever, i can do without fancy and flips. It finally died, so i charged the battery again and went at it. It flew well for the first minute or two, then it would not get more than 2 feet off the ground. I charged the battery again, and still the same thing happened. So i tried other batteries and the same thing happened again with each one. I’m sure i got a bad unit, but i would not spend the money on something that works only half of the time. I am currently in the process of sending it back and getting a refund. On the bright side though, i got some good aerial shots of my neighborhood. The camera works well and i was quite impressed with it.
Very straightforward to fly even by a a newbie. It is extremely steady in flight.
Seriously like this, but battery does not past very lengthy.
Batteries have on out far too brief.
As advertised, works well for entry level. The instruction manual is not very helpful, as it is loosely translated to english and has many grammar/ spelling errors along with sentence structure chaos, but here are the small issues i had:- process for pairing the remote to the copter is not detailed in the manual, luckily i found a youtube video that gives great instructions. Just search udi u818a and it’s the top video. Be/voxrtf0vk9m- wall-charger for battery packs. In the manual it states that the “indicator light will turn from red to green when the charging process is complete,” this was not the case for mine. The indicator light on the charging unit does not glow any color when charging the battery, until the charge is complete. In my case, the light on the charger glows red when charging is complete and it is unlit during the charging process. No big deal, other than i thought my charger was defective at first. All in all a cool product that is easy to use, and for the price you can’t beat it.
