Makerfire 4pcs 550mAh HV 3 – Not bad

The instructions are very bad. However there is a lot of information on how to fix if your fc is not being recognized in betaflight. I’m running mac and i had to give access through cli ( after 4 hours trying to figure it out ) once recognizable i was in the air within 5 minutes. Camera is great and works fine so far.

the 85mm micro / whoop class is an interesting class. It’s very close to where most quads will start to switch over to carbon fiber but still small enough to have a duct fan system like other smaller whoop class quads. It can be a hard size to get right. Makerfire has done just thatthis little micro flys so nice and is locked in right out of the box. Just bind it to your frsky and charge the battery and your good to go. It’s not just an angle mode flyer either. It easily performs all of the basic acro tricks you’ll want to do with a micro. The motors are a perfect fit for the quads size as well. This upgrade in the plus model has really made this quad perform. I was able to get four minutes and 38 seconds of flight time doing some pretty aggressive flying on the supplied crazy pony 550mah hv battery.

Running the 550mah batters for extra flight time. Shouldhave come with a small bag of screws as replacements. That is my biggest complaint.

I purchased the armor 85 plus as a next step in my evolution as a quadcopter pilot and it was the perfect choice for me. It is immediately apparent that the armor 85 plus’s 8. 5mm x 20mm motors are much more powerful than even the hottest 6mm or 7mm motors found on your typical tiny whoop. I have not yet flown it outdoors, but i’m sure it will handle a breeze a lot better than a 65mm quad does. Indoor flights have been nothing short of impressive. The throttle response and ‘punch’ (how quickly it climbs when full throttle is applied) were like nothing i’d ever experienced before. The armor 85 plus is very fast in a straight line, but still quite light weight, so chances of a crash causing damage to itself or it’s surroundings are still acceptably low enough for me to have no reservations about flying it indoors. I expect the armor 85 will be a great help in honing my fpv piloting skills, and if you’re looking for a step up from a 65mm or 75mm quad, but not quite ready for the power and potential danger of a brushless setup, i would recommend the armor 85 plus without reservation. The armor 85 plus would even make a great first fpv quadcopter for someone new to the hobby as it is very forgiving of mistakes despite it’s speed and power. If you’re completely new to the hobby, it would be best to have someone experienced help with the initial setup, but that’s true for any fpv quadcopter.

pros: 85mm motor to motor, arf with frsky capable txes, easy to bind, easy to fly, faster than the armor 65, accessing the frsky rx for binding is easiercons: larger, carries more speedthe armor 85 is the bigger sibling to the armor 65. I’ve enjoyed my armor 65 a ton and thought a bigger version would be more fun. The armor 85 fit this desire. The armor 85 uses the same fc and canopy as the armor 65, which is convenient for replacement parts. The armor 85 plus comes with one 550mah lihv battery, plenty of extra blades, blade removal tool, usb battery charger, manual, and frsky binding instructions. I bound mine to my jumper t12. Since i already had the armor 65; i copied the model, renamed it, and increased the rx number by one. Following the binding instructions for the rx was easy. After binding i connected the multirotor to betaflight, turned on the tx, and checked the input signals as the sticks were moved. I had to change my mapping to spektrum from frsky.

Customer service makes this a good purchase. Fc did not last 2 days but they say they are sending free replacement.

  1. I received this quad today and was really looking forward to flying it. First of all it came without a battery which it is supposed to as clearly stated in the amazon ad. Second of all it will not bind with my transmitter. I have been able to bind 2 other drones, one with the same receiver with no problem. The 3rd strike is it will not work with betaflight even though 2 other drones work perfectly on the same computer. There was no documentation and the support in the web is not very good. I sent an email but so far no response. This quad is very poor and support for this model is equally poor.

      1. Would not bind to my frsky or at least i couldn’t tell if it would because there is very little info from the company about the process on this product version not others they released.

Spent 3 hours trying to connect it to the betaflight software using multiple compluters but was unsuccessful since no connection was detected when plugging the drone in to the computer. Returned it without even a second of flight. Horrible product with unclear instructions. Also only one battery is included and not 3.
