Absolutely butter through the air. Doesn’t feel as agile as the 2′ so if you want a really toss-able micro quad, the 2′ is the one, this one feels 9/10s a 5′ just needs less space to fly in. Motors are whisper quiet and very powerful. I have the baby hawk r 2′ and 3′, and a diatone gt-r90 that i am just loving, making me reach for my impulse rc reverb and aliens since they require a bit more space to roam free in. Absolutely as much fun, a true blast to screw around with.
Very durable, even the props can take a hit and bent back.
Good to get one prebuilt and tuned, for a first experience. Good: stable, fast, well built, good canopy, fc has solder pads for led strip (they don’t advertise it, but it does support the one wire ws led strips). Bad: frame is a little weak, motors bearings are already whining, fc is only f3 and not f4. Once i broke the frame, i moved all the parts over to a rekonheli metal frame. Really nice and won’t break, i hope. Being an f3 does not seem to hurt, as i don’t have a lot of ‘features’ enabled. I have not tried the camera as i’m more los than fpv. Fwiw, i also bought a babyhawk r-pro, but in less than 1 week, a motor and the esc caught fire (while connecting a battery to the quad). Maybe i was unlucky with that unit, but the 3′ non-pro has been working out well for me.
This is a great flyer and basically the best little 3′ quad you can find for the money or even for more money really. The one guy who didn’t get screws must have been an early release of the product but it is very well packed now and they have a lot of users who have given them feedback and they have adjusted the things people didn’t like and have made it a really really good quad. You cant even buy these components separately and build it yourself for any less $. Also, best of all emax has posted on their website all the updated the settings for the newest version of betaflight to include perfectly tuned pid setups for 3s and 4s lipos.
Love this product, will buy another for back up.
If you are questioning the purchase, don’t. Super fast and cuts like nothing i have ever flown. If flying line of site you may have issues seeing it, really small.
Finding seven minute flights on tattu 4s 75c 850mah pack. Com/gp/products/b071gbmhds/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01?ie=utf8&psc=one it does not have wise audio control of the vtx or a present-day sensor. The bundled vtx functions high-quality and i just offer with the non smart audio. You will have to unlock it to gain obtain to some of the channels and to get it out of 25mw manner. The vtx antenna sucks so go and get your self a foxeer lollipop 2 u. Com/gp/item/b07jffp4lz/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=utf8&psc=1 also, if you want latest sensing, get just one of these. Com/gp/solution/b07cv5ckdl/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=utf8&psc=one and connect to pin eleven of the f3 processor. Recommendations in this article: http://www. Com/fsd-amass-xt30-present-day-sensor_p0122. Html following these couple updates this issue is my go-to quad after get the job done when time is limited. The flight functionality is quite great and this issue is a serious blast. I would not suggest it for newcomers.
First day i get to fly it is very windy but she has enough power to cut through the gusts. Very very agile and nimble, i use 4s 650mah batteries and get 5 minute flights at least.
Thank you sooo considerably for the substitute. I was up and jogging in 10 min.
Was a reward obtained it on time.
At the time i got all the betaflight issues worked out i started to appreciate it far more, but the weirdness i was suffering from prompted some crashes which snapped the arms like toothpicks. I truly purchased two babyhawk-r’s and they equally snapped arms. The arms they appear with are also skinny and even crashing on grass can crack them. I upgraded to rekonheli aluminum frames and now i am really taking pleasure in it. When everything is just correct it feels just like traveling a five inch quad but quieter.
Dont be fooled by the title newborn.
Pros:arrived in a couple daysgreat packaging, spare props, screws, etc. Tons of power & stick resolution on 4s 450mah lipo (3s is still plenty for most people)canopy looks cool and is convenient for access to the fc stack. Camera mount fits most micro cameras (i switched mine to the caddx turbo)cons:no smart audio. 2 motors now not spinning correctly, no signs of damageflew maybe 10-15 packs on this quad before the above issue started, no hard crashes at all. Rx doesn’t have a strong signal. I switched that out for an r9mm receiver for a little extra cushion. Overall, great quad for the price. I am disappointed i didn’t even get to race it before issues started popping up. I’d recommend it to any of my friends, but i’ll throw in a word of caution about the quality of the parts. I am reaching out to the seller to see if they will replace the failed motors, i will update this review accordingly once i’ve got it back up and running. Out of the box the quad fired up and looked like everything was normal. Unfortunately i had to do a lot of trouble shooting in order to get this thing in the sky. My receiver was not soldered up correctly: the signal wire and 5v were on the opposite pads. This is a simple mistake but i fear that too many people may have not been able to solve this issue. This quad is pointed at the novice users and reading through the spec sheets and verifying the setup is an extra step that i feel goes too far. However i was able to rewire the receiver and voilà the baby hawk r came alive. Sadly the 5v wire for the vtx was knocked loose in the process. The power for the vtx is on a tiny pad right under the receiver. They placed a small foam piece and a bit of glue on between the receiver and the vtx; this is a nice touch that accidentally led to another failure. So i put the quad back on the bench and decided to use one of the other 5v pads on the board to try and avoid this in the future.
Initially of all this is my very first drone i have procured, though i built/flew model planes and rockets about twelve a long time back and i have flown my buddies ‘egg’ drone a number of situations. When i resolved to acquire this i was really apprehensive it would be also little and i should really go with something bigger, but now i am absolutely bought on this minimal person. Even with 3s batteries it is just insanely quickly and agile, i cannot even retain up with this damn matter. I will not see replacing it any time soon and if i do get bored from what i’ve witnessed i can just get some 4s batteries and then it hits in close proximity to lighting speeds. Also in phrases of toughness. Once more this is my first drone and i broke a prop for the 1st time past night, just after acquiring this for a couple weeks now and flying almost each and every night. I have dropped fifteen toes on to concrete, frivolously operate into a wall or two and bounced on very a bit of concrete (regrettably no grass around my appartment) and not even a scratch. That reported i do fret about the capacitor sticking out of the aspect, but if that breaks just wire it onto 1 of the struts or a thing.
This 3 inch stays in the air longer then the 2 inch. It’s even quieter in seems to have a little more speed. Although i am using a 4s 550mah battery instead of a 3s i’m using on the 2 inch. I like the fact that i can fly without disturbing the neighbors with sound too much. Good quality camera just like the 2 inch. Flying out to 500 m still gets pretty good reception on 200mw. I did end up losing my 2 inch which i have to replace because i lost vtx reception at around 400m because of wet trees. This 3 inches is really my favorite now to fly and the 2 inch not far behind. Setting them up goes pretty smooth and simple. From rssi to turtle mode all i had to do was update the esc on blheli to get turtle mode working in the right direction.
So this is my next babyhawk r. I purchased the two inch the to start with time and observed a busted change on the vtx. I had to re solder the switch again on. I assumed that this was just a defective a person since listening to terrific matters about( youtube) emax. I then acquired the 3′ and all over again had an issue i at first assumed was the vtx. Turns out it was the digital camera this time. The plastic on the again of the real digicam arrived bent with weak solder joints on the board. Now possessing to replace the total digital camera which expense 30-forty pounds, this drone now charge all-around two hundred. Ive been in this passion now for in excess of 7 decades. I have 10k in dji drones and dont mind paying for a excellent solution.
Like how it flys, but only line of web-site for me, may have got a undesirable vtx, cant get a crystal clear pic. Its been in excess of a 7 days and no reply from heli-nation. one star off for disregarding me as a spending consumer. 2nd star off for providing me a possible terrible vtx. Kinda amusing while, i been shopping for a lot of cheap drones from china and got tired of defective products so i acquired american. Effectively wether u purchase from china the us or any in which else its a great prospect a little something will have to have correcting. If i’m go in to preserve this passion up just acquire the most economical which is commonly china as an alternative of shelling out extra in the us due to the fact high quality management is crap anyplace.
Reviews from purchasers :
Second Babyhawk R defective!
Great 3” BNF, might have issues when running 4s LIPO
Flies like Butter!
Very best traveling a few inch i’ve flown. Closest to 5 inch efficiency and managing in a small package.
